Watford Hertswise Project

Last month I was thrilled to visit the Watford Hertswise Project.

Age UK Hertfordshire has teamed up with Hertfordshire Independent Living Service, Herts Mind Network, Carers in Hertfordshire and other community and voluntary groups to offer this new and exciting service called ‘Hertswise’. The innovative countywide service is designed to support people with dementia, low level memory loss or mild cognitive impairment as well as their friends, family and carers.

Hertswise can offer group based activities that are designed by the client, or 1-1 support if people need extra, more individual community support. The service can also provide Information and Advice for all aspects of life - such as claiming benefits, Lasting Powers of Attorney, community care and health services - and other queries clients may have.

Hertswise will also be supporting carers in the community, giving carers a chance to relax and share their experiences in a friendly, supportive environment. A small contribution towards the cost of the service would be requested.
