Oh, What A Night!

A huge thank you to everybody who joined us at St Albans Cathedral on Saturday evening to enjoy ‘A Night on Broadway’. It was a concert that far exceeded our expectations and was truly fantastic. The Cathedral had been transformed into a west end stage thanks to expert lighting and sound technicians which, when combined with the natural beauty and acoustics of the Cathedral, meant we were in for a real treat. The London Musical Theatre Orchestra, led by Conductor and Founder Freddie Tapner, were on sensational form and sounded truly magnificent, transporting us through the golden age of musicals in Act One, and then entertaining us with more modern day musical classics in Act Two. To add to the plethora of talent on stage, we were lucky enough to have the exceptionally talented Emma Kingston, Charlotte Wakefield, Hugh Maynard and Nigel Richards, who transfixed the audience with their melodic story telling and truly beautiful voices. There are too many highlights to go through individually, but the performance by Charlotte and Nigel, singing Phantom of the Opera from the organ loft, accompanied by the Cathedral organ was something very special. The set list wound up to a perfect crescendo at the end of the evening, forcing the audience onto their feet to enjoy songs from Hairspray and Mamma Mia. I’m not sure there’s ever been quite so much dancing in the aisles before! To add to all of the enjoyment, I’m so thrilled to confirm we raised £1,200 from the charity auction, where a lucky audience member won the opportunity to conduct ‘Do You Hear The People Sing’ from Les Miserables. He did a magnificent job and the orchestra and soloists followed him meticulously! Added to this, generous audience members bought programmes and donated to the ‘charity buckets’ at the end of the night, all helping to increase the overall total raised for the three charities - LMTO, the Cathedral and Hertfordshire Community Foundation. Once again, thank you so much to everybody who came and participated in such an unforgettable event. It’s an evening we shall never forget! Such an amazing night would not have been possible were it not for the support of our extremely generous sponsors, advertisers and supporters. A massive thank you as follows: Lead Sponsors:
