The High Sheriff goes back to school!
Will, and his wife Kate, were given a tour of the museum and met many of the volunteers who turned out in their numbers to welcome him. The volunteers put on a ‘Monitorial’ lesson in the grade II* Lancasterian schoolroom, a Victorian ‘rithmetic lesson in the galleried classroom, and even baked a cake for the special occasion!
Museum Manager Sam Mason said, “It was an absolute delight to welcome the High Sheriff. He was very complimentary about the museum, and particularly of the hard-work and dedication shown by our volunteers- I do hope we see Mr. and Mrs. Hobhouse on a return visit!”.
Volunteer coordinator, Yvonne Limbrick- a volunteer herself- said “It was lovely to meet him and to see so many of our volunteers turn-out for the occasion. It was made extra-special since his visit coincided with our 21st anniversary of opening as a museum!”.
The museum has changed its public opening days this year, and is now open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Additional opening times and events can be found on the museum’s webpage www.britishschoolsmuseum.org.uk. We highly recommend you all go!
