The High Sheriff goes back to school!

On Monday 24th April Will enjoyed a special visit to the British Schools Museum in Hitchin, witnessing some of the fantastic work that the museum’s volunteers regularly do.

Will, and his wife Kate, were given a tour of the museum and met many of the volunteers who turned out in their numbers to welcome him. The volunteers put on a ‘Monitorial’ lesson in the grade II* Lancasterian schoolroom, a Victorian ‘rithmetic lesson in the galleried classroom, and even baked a cake for the special occasion!

Museum Manager Sam Mason said, “It was an absolute delight to welcome the High Sheriff. He was very complimentary about the museum, and particularly of the hard-work and dedication shown by our volunteers- I do hope we see Mr. and Mrs. Hobhouse on a return visit!”.

Volunteer coordinator, Yvonne Limbrick- a volunteer herself- said “It was lovely to meet him and to see so many of our volunteers turn-out for the occasion. It was made extra-special since his visit coincided with our 21st anniversary of opening as a museum!”.
