    Knitting and Nattering!

    March 15, 2018

Some months back I was introduced to a wonderful group of ladies at St Michael and All Angels Church in Borehamwood who collectively form the ‘Knit and Natter’ club. They do pretty much what it says on the tin and make a variety of amazing knitted creations out of wool. Their achievements are made all the more extraordinary due to the fact that some of the ladies are visually impaired. This means, amongst other things, that they can’t follow knitting patterns and instead rely on verbal instructions and memory.

During our initial meeting I was not in Court Dress and they were rather disappointed so I agreed to return if they would knit a ‘High Sheriff’ doll!

Last month I was invited back, in full Court Dress of course, and the results were remarkable! They had taken it upon themselves to knit not just one High Sheriff doll but 4 and also a replica of the former Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, the Countess of Verulam.

At my High Sheriff Awards ceremony last week we were able to showcase the wonderful work of this fantastic group and present the dolls to those on whom they're modelled!

A truly remarkable group of ladies and thank you for your wonderful efforts!
