Taking on the 'Snowflake Challenge'

Last Saturday saw Home-Start Watford and Three Rivers third annual 'Snowflake Challenge' take place at St Mary's Church, Watford.

I was delighted to take part in this epic abseil, with two of my sons and another 30 brave participants. Despite the cold and wet November day, it was a fantastic experience and great to raise much needed funds for this worthwhile charity, who support so many families in the local area.

The event was sponsored by Warner Brothers (Leavesden Studios) and organised by Community fundraiser, Alli Nunes, with the support of groups of young people.

The event was supported by students from NCS Watford and a Dragons Apprentice Team from Queens School. The students braved the weather to collect money and ran festive stalls in the Church Hall including cakes and a Tombola. To add to the festive spirit, the choir from Highwood Primary School delighted everyone with Christmas carols.

The charity are hoping to raise over £3,000 from this event. Scheme Manager Emma Power said 'we are so lucky to have such incredible support from our local community, enabling us to continue to support families who are facing challenges of their own. Thank you everyone who took part!'
