Celebrating Volunteers in Volunteers Week!

I was delighted to participate in the Annual Conference of the Hertfordshire Volunteers Centres today.

Once again, it was humbling to see so many people in the room who proactively give up their time to help organisations and charities around the county.

I was also honoured to present the award for Volunteer Management, nominated by volunteers across the county, to the Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service. They work closely with Hertfordshire communities to reduce the risk of fires and other emergencies occurring and work with a wide range of organisations to help prevent crime and disorder. This is done through a range of education and engagement initiatives including; home fire safety advice and guidance, arson reduction activities, youth engagement activities and targeted campaigns aimed at vulnerable groups.
