A huge thank you to everybody who joined us at St Albans Cathedral on Saturday evening to enjoy ‘Handel’s Messiah’. It was a wonderful concert, with conductor Laurence Cummings taking masterful control of the London Handel Orchestra, St Albans Bach Choir and Mosaic Chamber Choir, whilst at the same time playing the harpsichord! On Friday 7th and Saturday 8th July my wife Kate and I were pleased to host the annual High Sheriff’s garden parties at our home in Sarratt.
We took the opportunity to thank all volunteers from our local village and had a wonderful afternoon with them in the sunshine, followed by an evening celebrating the launch of the new ‘Love Herts’ appeal by Hertfordshire Community Foundation. On Thursday 6th July, I had the pleasure of opening a new Emmaus shop at Foxholes Farm in Hertford. As part of the event Lord Charles Cecil also announced the charity’s change of name, from Emmaus St Albans to Emmaus Hertfordshire. Emmaus Hertfordshire opened its doors in 2002 providing a home and work to formerly homeless people, and over the past 15 years it has grown significantly.
