Sally Burton DL, High Sheriff of Hertfordshire
Sally Burton DL studied law at Bristol University and qualified as a solicitor in 1981. After a short spell in private practice and working for The Law Society in London, she moved to Hertfordshire in 1985, where her main activities have involved work in the voluntary sector.
She has chaired the Fighting Breast Cancer Committee for nearly thirty years, raising over half a million pounds for breast cancer research and care.
Sally has been a Deputy Lieutenant of Hertfordshire since 2012. As a Trustee of the Hertfordshire Community Foundation, she chairs the Grants Committee which provides support to voluntary groups in the county. Dealing with the challenges facing the community during the Covid pandemic in 2020 and 2021 was a full-on task.
She is married to Mark, with three adult children and a brown standard poodle called Tiffin. She loves playing tennis and skiing, trips to the theatre and discovering new restaurants. Her current project is trying to become fluent in French.
